Can't launch applications - SSL Error 34

Symptoms

You try launching an application in HarborCloud, but are unable to do so and receive an SSL Error 34 message instead:

Unable to launch your application. Contact your help desk with the following information: Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp Server. SSL Error 34: Socks5 handshake failed.

This behavior is often specific to just one computer, but all HarborCloud applications launched from that computer return the same error.

Cause

This typically occurs when a local process is affecting the connection from being established to HarborCloud's servers or if the Citrix Receiver is out of date.

Solution

The easiest way to resolve is simply to restart your computer, as this will end all potential local processes that may be affecting your ability to connect.

  1. Log completely out of HarborCloud
  2. Close down all local programs
  3. Restart your local computer
  4. Log back into HarborCloud and try again

If the error message persists even after restarting your computer, please update to the latest Citrix Receiver and restart again:

  1. Go to http://receiver.citrix.com
  2. Choose to download and install the Citrix Receiver
  3. After the installation is complete, when prompted to Add Account or Finish, just click Finish
  4. Restart your local computer
  5. Log back into HarborCloud and try again

If the error message persists even after updating to the latest Citrix Receiver and restarting your computer, then please submit a request and we will further troubleshoot with you as soon as possible.
